Arthritis is a very common condition affecting 1 in 6 Australians, both adults and children. Arthritis is an umbrella term for over 100 conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, specifically joints, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness

Common Arthritic Conditions:

Gout: is a common and complex form of Arthritis, caused by urate crystals accumulating in the joint resulting in inflammation and intense pain.

Signs & Symptoms:

Osteoarthritis: the most common form of joint disease, Osteoarthritis occurs when cartilage and other tissue within the joint breaks down or changes in structure.

Osteoarthritis has previously been referred to as a ‘wear and tear’ condition however it is now thought that it results from a joint working extra hard to repair itself.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: is an inflammatory form of Arthritis causing pain and swelling of the joints. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease where your immune system attacks your own healthy tissue, specifically targeting the lining of the joints, causing inflammation and joint damage.
